Agile & Beyond 2020

Agile & Beyond 2020 Postponed

Agile & Beyond is a community-driven event, and we take that responsibility very seriously. Without the continued support of our speakers, sponsors and attendees we would not be here.

Because of the events surrounding the COVID-19 virus, the cancellation of many similar events both locally and nationally, the national precautions that have been put into place, and our responsibility to act in your best interest, we have been considering all of our options with regards to the 2020 conference.

The evidence indicates that large gatherings of people over an extended period of time are a big contributor to the spread of this virus. With that in mind we have decided to postpone the 2020 Agile & Beyond conference until September 8 - 10, 2020. We are optimistic that by that time the global community will have emerged better, healthier, and stronger than ever, allowing us to provide an excellent learning opportunity moving forward.

We will continue to closely watch the COVID-19 situation, monitor local and national guidelines, and alert you to any new adjustments to this schedule.

Anyone that has already purchased a ticket to the conference in May will have their ticket honored for the September dates. If our new dates conflict with your schedule, please contact us at info@agileandbeyond.com, and we will work on issuing a refund of your ticket.

We do not take this decision lightly, but we feel it is in the best interest of the health and safety of our community. We would rather be too safe than wrong.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach us at info@agileandbeyond.com.

Thank you so much and stay safe,

The Agile & Beyond Organizing Committee

KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

Jessica Kerr - Keynote

Jessica Kerr JessiTRON

Jessica Kerr is a symmathecist, in the medium of code. She believes in learning systems made of learning parts: enthusiastic people and evolving software. In twenty years of professional software development, she has worked in languages from Java to Scala and Clojure, from Ruby to Elixir and Elm, from bash to TypeScript and PowerShell. In her years as a conference keynoter and speaker, she has talked about all of these, plus the deeper work of software development. She finds inspiration in resilience engineering, systems thinking, and art. She loves helping developers automate the boring bits of our work and express more creativity in the rest. Find her learning out loud on twitter (@jessitron), live coding on twitch (jessitronica), writing at blog.jessitron.com, and raising two new unpredictable people in her home in St. Louis, MO.

Agile and Beyond 2020 Code of Conduct

All attendees, speakers, sponsors, volunteers and guests at Agile and Beyond 2020 are required to comply with this code of conduct. Organizers will enforce this code throughout the event. We expect cooperation from all participants to help ensure a safe and supportive environment for everybody.

In short, treat people the way you wish to be treated.

Need Help?

You have our contact details in the emails we've sent and you’ll be able to find us, we’re the ones wearing the Blue polo shirts with conference logo. If you don’t feel that you can, or would rather not approach us please reach out to us at info@agileandbeyond.com. You may also reach us at 734-480-8355

The Quick Version

Our conference is dedicated exploring ideas. To do so, we must provide a harassment-free conference experience for everyone, regardless of gender, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, or religion (or lack thereof). We do not tolerate harassment of conference participants in any form - at all, at any time.

Sexual language and imagery is not appropriate for any conference venue, including talks, workshops, parties, Twitter and other online media. Conference participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the conference without a refund at the discretion of the conference organisers.

If you have to ask, the answer is probably no. When in doubt, don’t do it.

The Less Quick Version

Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to gender, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical closeness or contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.

Participants asked to stop any intimidating or harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.

Sponsors are also subject to the anti-harassment policy. In particular, sponsors should not use sexualised images, activities, contexts, or other material. Booth staff (including volunteers) should not use sexualised clothing/uniforms/costumes, or otherwise create a sexualised environment.

We will not allow so-called “booth babes” as they are inappropriate in all circumstances.

If a participant engages in harassing behavior, the conference organisers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from the conference with no refund.

If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of conference staff immediately. Conference staff can be identified as they'll be wearing the blue polo shirts with Agile and Beyond (AB) conference branding.

Conference staff will be happy to assist participants in any way, including: contacting venue security; local police; providing escorts to or from events; or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment. We will do whatever is possible for attendees to feel safe for the duration of the conference. We value your presence at the conference, and we strive to ensure a positive environment for everyone.

We expect participants to follow these policies at all conference events and in all conference venues, including talks and workshops, during breaks, and at any conference-related social events.

Please enjoy yourself at Agile and Beyond 2020. Let others do the same.
