Agile & Beyond 2022

Just one more week, we hope you are as excited as we are!

We are excited to announce that Agile & Beyond will be returning in 2022 and we are excited to have you speak. This event brings together technology leaders, engineers, designers, product owners, and executives for world-class sessions focused on Agility, Software Engineering, and Lean Business.

We are excited about this year's keynote speakers: Jessica Kerr and Linda Rising! We are down to fewer than 100 tickets remaining! Make sure to get yours.

Details

Agile & Beyond conference will consist of breakout sessions on May 24th and 25th. Breakout sessions will be 45 or 100 minutes in length and cover agile or beyond agile themed topics.

Each day will start with a keynote that will help set the tone for the day and end with social events that will allow us all to reconnect. It's been too long.

We will be following local and federal safety procedures to ensure the health of everyone who participates in Agile & Beyond. Our safety procedures will evolve as state and local guidance changes.

KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

Jessica Kerr - Keynote

Jessica Kerr JessiTRON

Jessica Kerr is a symmathecist, in the medium of code. She believes in learning systems made of learning parts: enthusiastic people and evolving software. In twenty years of professional software development, she has worked in languages from Java to Scala and Clojure, from Ruby to Elixir and Elm, from bash to TypeScript and PowerShell. In her years as a conference keynoter and speaker, she has talked about all of these, plus the deeper work of software development. She finds inspiration in resilience engineering, systems thinking, and art. She loves helping developers automate the boring bits of our work and express more creativity in the rest. Find her learning out loud on twitter (@jessitron), live coding on twitch (jessitronica), writing at blog.jessitron.com, and raising two new unpredictable people in her home in St. Louis, MO.

Linda Rising - Keynote

Linda Rising Independent Consultant

Linda Rising is an independent consultant based in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee (just East of Nashville). She has a Ph.D. from Arizona State University in the field of object-based design metrics and a background that includes university teaching and industry work in telecommunications, avionics, and tactical weapons systems. An internationally known presenter on topics related to patterns, retrospectives, the change process, and how your brain works, Linda is the author of a number of publications and four books: Design Patterns in Communications; The Pattern Almanac 2000; A Patterns Handbook; and, co-authored with Mary Lynn Manns, Fearless Change: Patterns for Introducing New Ideas. Linda has been an amateur recorder player for over 50 years. She and her husband, Karl Rehmer, are part of three performing groups. They also enjoy bike riding, even when the hills in Tennessee are pretty steep. They also serve as board members for Habitat for Humanity of Wilson County.

The Quick Version

Our conference is dedicated exploring ideas. To do so, we must provide a harassment-free conference experience for everyone, regardless of gender, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, or religion (or lack thereof). We do not tolerate harassment of conference participants in any form - at all, at any time.

Sexual language and imagery is not appropriate for any conference venue, including talks, workshops, parties, Twitter and other online media. Conference participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the conference without a refund at the discretion of the conference organisers.

If you have to ask, the answer is probably no. When in doubt, don’t do it.

The Less Quick Version

Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to gender, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical closeness or contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.

Participants asked to stop any intimidating or harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.

Sponsors are also subject to the anti-harassment policy. In particular, sponsors should not use sexualised images, activities, contexts, or other material. Booth staff (including volunteers) should not use sexualised clothing/uniforms/costumes, or otherwise create a sexualised environment.

We will not allow so-called “booth babes” as they are inappropriate in all circumstances.

If a participant engages in harassing behavior, the conference organisers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from the conference with no refund.

If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of conference staff immediately. Conference staff can be identified as they'll be wearing the blue polo shirts with Agile and Beyond (AB) conference branding.

Conference staff will be happy to assist participants in any way, including: contacting venue security; local police; providing escorts to or from events; or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment. We will do whatever is possible for attendees to feel safe for the duration of the conference. We value your presence at the conference, and we strive to ensure a positive environment for everyone.

We expect participants to follow these policies at all conference events and in all conference venues, including talks and workshops, during breaks, and at any conference-related social events.

Please enjoy yourself at Agile and Beyond 2022. Let others do the same.
